yourcentennialhillsexpert This year marks my fifth year in real estate. Here’s what I’ve learned: 1️⃣ Success takes time. It won’t happen overnight, and even years in, you’ll still face slow months. Don't measure your success with others -- you don't know where everyone is at in their business, and vanity metrics can make one seem more successful than he/she truly is. Focus on what actually matters! 2️⃣ Relationships over paychecks. Building trust will take you further than just chasing the next deal. Focusing on "right now" business means you don't have a pipeline, and you can't forecast business success without managing a pipeline. Your pipeline comes from keeping in touch with your people -- intentional conversation and relationship building are key. 3️⃣ Tough deals make great agents. The hardest transactions and clients teach you the most. I've definitely seen my fair share of wild things come up in transactions, but all came with positive outcomes and better preparation for future deals. 4️⃣ This career is NOT easy. You have to be a negotiator, marketer, problem-solver, and cheerleader all in one. You MUST always stay on top of the technical aspects of this business -- add value to the transaction with skill and expertise by always learning! 5️⃣ Most people don’t get what we do. Agents sacrifice a lot to make deals happen, but the outside world rarely sees it. So many nuances in a transaction can derail a deal --- ALWAYS be on your toes and anticipate the unexpected.
